On December 15th Wat Pah Nanachat celebrated the designation of a 40x80 m area in the monastery to be a territory where only the monastic law (vinaya) is valid - called Visunggama Sima. This goes along with the monastery being granted the rights to build a proper uposatha hall (bot). This designation is granted by H.M. King of Thailand. The verification of the area is carried out by the mayor of the city - in this case Warin - staking it out. Both the local monastic and civil administration witness this act. To honour this royal designation Wat Pah Nanachat installed eight solid sandstone boundary stones. Each of them carries inscriptions of teachings of the Buddha and Ven. Ajahn Chah, in Thai, Pali and English. This auspicious occasion was marked by many senior monks giving their blessing, including the former abbots, headed by Luang Por Sumedho. Luang Por Liem came from Wat Nong Pah Pong and the head of the Sangha of Ubon, Tan Jaokhun Rachathirajahn gave the festive speech.
